Our Mission:
To give families a temporary place to stay when they have nowhere else to turn.
Reduce childhood trauma among our working poor families
Provide parents respite while planning next steps for housing
Provide relational care and offer spiritual support in time of need
Our Method:
Referral and eligibility
Our partner agencies refer us qualifying families in crisis who need immediate stabilization.
Temporary hotel respite
We connect families to our partner hotels.
Transition to apartment housing
Our work is intentionally transitional. We help bridge the family to an apartment and a more stable foundation for the future.
Visiting Angels
Our team of volunteers from various churches schedule friendly visits to our families during their hotel stay. Our faith-informed encouragement helps our families feel seen and heard. Our families are thankful for the emotional support, and they know they can reach out to us during their stay.
A short period of safe respite can prevent a spiral into homelessness and create the conditions for a successful housing transition.
This is a focused intervention for a highly vulnerable population. Working in homeless prevention has helped us identify a specific gap in Austin’s homeless response and we’ve developed a practical, time-sensitive way to fill it.
